Hi all of you Swift Heirs! This is Brooke and since July is my birthday month, it's my turn to write on the blog. This summer seems to be flying by for the Swifts of Minnesota. Some of the highlights have been: EFY for Davis in June, Scout Camp for Mason and Carter, Basketball Camp for Mason and Harrison, Tennis Camp for Sadie (and lots of Gymnastics!!!), High Adventure for Davis (100 mile bike ride to the fabulous waterparks at the Wisconsin Dells), a two week business trip for Carter to Korea, China, and Japan, a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Lawrence, a Ward Fourth of July Breakfast in our yard, and a Lawrence Family Reunion at Spring Haven in Springville, UT.
The Swift children are training for their first triathlon this summer. The St. Croix Triathlon is on August 31st, so we have been doing lots of swimming, biking, and running around here in anticipation. We're hoping for a great experience.
Davis and I are plugging away at organizing his Eagle Scout project which will take place in August. He's working with the city to do some improvements at a local park. Along with mulching trees and sanding and staining all the park benches, he is excited to install a bike rack there. This is a park that is close to our house and we ride bikes there often, so the project will benefit our family as well as our whole community.
Aside from all this, the highlight of my summer has been supervising an exterior remodel and landscaping project in our front yard (before and after pics coming soon). We put in new garage doors, a new front door, cedar shutters and cedar pillars, window boxes, a new paver walkway, and all kinds of beautiful shrubs, flowers, and glacier boulders. It looks lovely and I'm so glad that it's done!
